Rendering works ok, patch pushed to git head, closing.
Patches apply on GIT head as of now, seems to do the trick with avant window navigator and gnome-do on my setup.
Looking into this, it seems to be the visual/depth/colormap causing the problems. Done some experiments, but still a bit unsure what's the "correct" way of doing this.
Attached imageshack linked in image.
it is definitely pekwm.. i booted into a vanilla X environment and started xcompmgr and fired up gnome-do
.. and it was beautiful.. and i still get a black box in pekwm.. not just gnome-do, but for all apps that require compositing.. strange though, because transparencies with transset works flawlessly
I believe this is an issue with pekwm
Done a bit of research on this and I think it could be similar to OpenBox bug #2850 http://bugzilla.icculus.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2850
Then general case is probably that applications requesting ARGB (or RGBA) visuals aren't handled correctly.
on release 1.11 same problem i`am using not xorg driver, but nvidia drivers and cannot set different acceleration architectures transparency works with setup with transset-df, but with xcompmgr not i`ve composite enabled
Can you please test with the different acceleration architectures (XAA, EXA)? And please report which xorg driver you use.
i can confirm this too.. replaced pekwm with metacity in my .xinitrc file and xcompmgr did its thing. Things looked as they should with no black spaces.. (with awn, gnome-do (docky)), but with pekwm, the problem's back!
and the composite extension is enabled in my xorg.conf
agree, same error
I`ll test gnome-do on my machine. When it work on yours machine with metacity, and on PekWM not, that will be a bug ( right place ;) )
Well, I am sure that when I submitted this composite was enabled in my xorg configuration, as it has always been on my machine.
this is caused because graphics card driver, setup xorg then test :) composite must be enabled to work with xcompmgr
Arch Linux, pekwm 0.1.10-1, xcompmgr 1.1.4-2
Same problem with cairo-dock 2.0.7-1
